Mrs. Johnson is currently a public servant with over 27 years in the Federal Government. She has worked in the Civilian Equal Employment Opportunity professional career field for more than 23 years and continues to thrive today as an agent of change.
Ms. Johnson joined the Pentagon’s Office of Secretary of Defense, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity, more than 12 years ago. Ms. Johnson is currently Director of DoD-wide policy for Federal Women, Black, Asian American, and Pacific Islander Employment Programs. She is also Acting Director for the Department’s Hispanic and Native American Employment Programs.
Ms. Johnson serves as the DoD liaison for the White House Council on Women and Girls. She also serves as the Personnel and Readiness liaison for the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and other Minority Serving Institutions to include Hispanic, Native American and Pacific Islander Serving institutions. Ms. Johnson co-leads the development of DoD Hazing and Bullying Prevention and Response Policy in the Armed Forces.
As a senior advisor to DoD political and career Senior Executive Service members on women and minority issues, Ms. Johnson has oversight for Office of the Secretary of Defense level policy and programs responding to the identification and elimination of barriers affecting the full representation and advancement of women and minorities within DoD. Her leadership impacts more than 700,000 civilian employees, and supports more than 1.4 million active duty service members, and 1.1 million reserve personnel in the Continental United States and overseas. Ms. Johnson started her federal career as an intermittent Substitute High School Teacher for the Department of Defense Schools located in Augsburg, Germany in 1987. In 1993, she was selected as a Department of the Army Intern and quickly rose to the rank of her present senior position.
Ms. Johnson designed and led motivational webinars on the empowerment of women across the federal government and nationally, including speaking at the university level. She innovated and executed the first-ever DoD Federal Executive Webinar Series. She also established and led the 5-Year Pilot Centralized Intern Program for DoD, a program uniquely designed for a diverse population of under-served college students pursuing STEM and other disciplines of study. She has served in senior positions in both Europe and the United States.
During her personal time, Ms. Johnson enjoys conducting classes for women of all ages. She focuses on strategies for success and teaching women how to position themselves properly for their destiny journey from the inside out. Her greatest passion lies in the mentoring and strategic development of future girl leaders.
